Our Story
Having both worked in investment banking and consulting, and around small-to-medium sized businesses, serial entrepreneurs Edward Zhu (CPA, LPA, MAcc, BBA) and Tim Chen (CFA, MAA, BCom) found a passion in helping the main street business owners increase the value of their businesses and meet their succession and retirement goals.
Meet The Team
Canadian CPA and LPA with experience working in investment banking, big 4 audit, management consulting, VC investing, and private equity.
Edward had nearly a decade of experience working with clients who are PE-backed mega corps, but also a ton of small to medium sized businesses. His advisory work grew CarltonOne's Monthly Recurring Revenue by $6 million CAD. He was responsible for creating $16.9 million CAD of total sell-side transaction value in the past 4 years.
Currently, he also serves as the Interim CFO to many Canadian brands such as %ARABICA, The Capitain's Boil, Midori Ramen, etc. As an investor, he has overseen $70 million CAD of assets under management and co-invested with notable investors such as Jack Dorsey, Greylock, Dragonfly, Circle, Sequoia and Jump Ventures.
In addition, Edward is a mental health advocate and executive coach to young business leaders, and an avid public speaker.
CFA certified Rotman graduate with experience working in investment banking, corporate development (internal M&A), business development and asset management.
Tim was previously the founder and CEO of multiple successful Canadian businesses. In addition, Tim has over 4 years experience working at the largest telecom business in Canada, providing strategic advice and professional services to over 150 enterprise clients.
He has worked closely with boards and management teams on strategy, M&A and capital raising. Notable transactions include the sale of Atrenne Computing Solutions ($139M) and Impakt Holdings ($329M) to Celestica (NYSE: CLS). Tim has also led major transformation efforts at Canada’s largest Electronics manufacturing company, on strategy, revenue, cost management and IT.
In addition, He is a board member of Student Assistance for Seniors in North Toronto community and tournament coordinator for Jays care foundation.
